Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

This is an easy old-fashioned recipe that caught my eye and I decided it was too easy not to make. The first night, it was a bit bland, but I had leftovers for lunch the next day, and they were delicious; the flavors had a chance to meld together and become stronger.  This was good over either mashed potatoes or rice.  I really enjoyed the onions in this, and would use more next time.
Slow Cooker Swiss Steak
adapted from Taste of Home
about 6 servings

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon pepper
sprinkle salt
1.5- 2 pounds beef round steak, cut into six pieces
1 medium onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 celery rib, cut into 1/2-inch slices
1 regular can (15- some ounces) tomato sauce

1.  In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, salt and pepper. Add the steak; seal bag and shake to coat. (You can also just use a plate and dip the meat into the flour on the plate.)

2.  Place the onion in a greased 3-qt. slow cooker. Top with the steak, celery and tomato sauce. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender.
