California Redwoods!

At the tail end of our Northwest trip last summer, we spent a week in Northern California.  We spent the time in both Eureka and Crescent City.  We went on lots of easy hikes, drives, etc to see the Redwoods.  Eureka had a great zoo with redwoods right in the zoo that we loved. Some highlights- Fern Canyon- this was our favorite hike.  You hike through a canyon where the walls are literally covered in ferns! You'll need water shoes.  Below is the only pic I really have without our fam in it (I don't share people pics here). We hiked to the end and back, and then went down and had lunch at picnic tables on the beach.  Other assorted pics, below.  The last pic is of my meal at a great restaurant we stopped by after hiking in the redwoods all day.  It was a great trip!

Pics from Grand Teton 2017

We loved seeing Grand Teton National Park again last summer.  We saw so much beautiful scenery.  We also took a hike to Leigh Lake, which was serene and gorgeous.  We dipped our feet in the lake when we got there and relaxed.  We didn't really see any wildlife except birds and pronghorns.  Oh, we did see a herb of buffalo in the distance.

Scenes from Yellowstone

I just posted pics of the thermal features of Yellowstone, and here are the rest of the pics I want to share.  Mostly scenery and landscapes.  We had a great visit to Yellowstone in July 2017.  Hopefully we'll be able to get back again someday!

 In the pic above, you can see bear claw marks on the tree closest to the forefront.

Thermal Pools & Features of Yellowstone

I'm finally posting pics from our Yellowstone trip we took last summer!  (2017)  I have so many pics, I'm dividing them into two parts.  This first part will be thermal pools and other thermal features.  Later, I'll post landscape, etc pics.  I don't know the name or area of every feature, but if I do, I'll caption below the photo.  We were in Yellowstone almost a week in July 2017 and we saw SO much!!  So much more than we've ever seen before.  We hiked off the beaten path, drove everywhere, and really got out and explored.  We also went in 2010, but were only there for 2 days and our kids were so small back then.  (Harder to hike, etc.)

The Grand Canyon- North Rim

I was going through old pictures from FOUR years ago and I realized I never posted pics of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon when we went on our Southwest trip.  We didn't go to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon; we loved the North Rim.  It's a lot less crowded, has awesome views, and nice cool weather even in the middle of the summer.  We went on some hikes and ate at the buffet in the dining room for lunch.  (It was good! I usually don't think National Park food is good at all.) Before eating, we sat out on the patio, overlooking the canyon, and were the only ones out there. The North Rim is great.  Here's the National Park's website to find out more info if you plan on going. Tons of pics below. Of course, these pics don't do justice to the grandeur you can see in person here.  It's amazing.
