Azorean Maios (May Day Tradition)

I mentioned these May Day Traditions- Maios- four years ago.  This May Day (May 1st) we drove around a few sections of the island again, spotting Maios and taking their pictures.  The kids helped.  I took a pic of my toddler with the one pictured above and it really freaked him out, being so close to one.  The one above says "Keep Calm, the street bullfights start today!"  (She's holding an umbrella; used to taunt the bulls.)  And on another note, we went to our first street bullfight of the year, today!  They have them almost daily here from May-October, but we usually don't see very many.

The Maios above is reminding everyone to recycle.  Yellow for plastic & metal, green for glass, and blue for paper.  I don't know what every Maios is representing, but it was fun taking pics of them anyway. Here are the rest of the pics.
